Annotation:
The problem of pollution of the territory and water areas of the Russian Federation by oil and oil products is of very serious importance, since our country is one of the leading oil-producing powers in the world. Every year, tens of thousands of accidents occur in the country, as a result of which, according to various data, from 0,1 to 1,0 million tons of oil hydrocarbons are released into the environment. The main reason for a large number of accidental spills is the deterioration of the equipment used for storing and transporting oil and oil products. There are many drawbacks in oil and oil product spill response plans. The paper describes the situation with emergency oil and oil products spills in the Russian Federation, followed by the activities in respect of organization of their aftereffects elimination.
