The article for the first time considers the influence of high temperatures (600, 700, 800, 900, 1000 °C) on the water absorption capacity, swelling, compressive strength of the product of drilling sludge neutralization on the hydrocarbon basis. The lowest water absorption is observed in the samples fired at the temperature of 800°C. In this case, the amount of water absorption by weight is 6,33 %, by volume – 13,43 %. The highest water absorption capacity was revealed in samples subjected to stepwise firing – 28,59 % and 44,46 %. The maximum swelling (1,08) was fixed in samples burned at 700 °C, the least one (0,974) – at 800 °C. The highest compressive strength is observed in a sample fired at 800 °C and makes 686,47 N, the strength of a water-saturated sample is 578,59 N. The loss of strength during water saturation in this case is 15,7 %. According to the results of compressive strength tests, the most promising temperature regimes were determined: 800 and 900 °C. The average compressive strength of the samples fired at 800 °C was 689,70 N, at 900 °C – 586,73 N. The results obtained are compared with the strength of expanded clay gravel granules. The strength of expanded clay gravel was 496,90 N, which is 1,4 and 1,2 times less than the strength characteristics of the studied samples, respectively. The data obtained indicate the possibility of getting construction material when utilizing drilling sludge on a hydrocarbon basis.
