Forecasting of risks from damages during gas pipelines operation in the territories with permafrost soils

Annotation:

Long-term operation of gas pipelines in permafrost conditions requires a detailed study of the thermal factors impact in the pipe-soil system, their influence on permafrost and the seasonal-thawed layer. Today, this issue is relevant, because in most cases monitoring of thermal effects, the formation of thawing areas and flooding of gas pipelines under thermal influence are not carried out. In this regard, the authors of the article have considered the operational dynamics of power parameters (pressure, temperature). Field work was carried out to measure the depth of the seasonally thawed layer in different geological systems, mathematical modeling of thermal interactions in the soil-gas pipeline system and the risk of possible environmental damage in case of an accident was assessed. These methods allow making long-term and short-term forecasts of the impact of gas pipeline operation on the environment in permafrost conditions.
