Annotation:

The article presents the results of remote and field studies of the problem of vegetative ground cover mechanical disturbance and biological reclamation of sandy wastelands in the north of the Western Siberia. It has been revealed that the largest area of anthropogenic sandy wastelands is localized in the Purovsky region (200,4 km2, 0,19 % of the total area). The Urengoyskoye, Sutorminskoye, Barsukovskoye etc. are among the oil and gas fields with a high share of anthropogenic disturbance. Northern taiga forests with low-power podzolic soils, which are formed on sandy sediments of alluvial, lake and water-glacial origin, are characterized by minimum resistance to mechanical impact. The most successful technologies for reclamation of sandy wastelands are the use of biomats and creation of a mulching layer of peat-sand mixture, which ensure formation of stable artificial grass stands. Creation of forest cultures on a dry sandy quarry using Scot’s pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings under favorable conditions for young growth allows the formation of a stable young forest community.
