Annotation:
The article presents a simplified method of calculating the condensation heat of water vapor contained in the combustion products of hydrocarbon fuels. The methodology is based on generalized thermal characteristics and is especially relevant when using natural gas as fuel, since the combustion products do not contain sulfur compounds, and the percentage of water vapor is higher than that of other fuels. This makes it possible to use contact apparatuses for heating water, in which the heat transfer does not pass through a metal wall, but through direct contact of hot gases with water. Installation of contact economizers as a low-temperature stage behind water and steam boilers, as well as behind process furnaces can increase the fuel utilization factor to 95…98 % with the reduction of the heat balance by the higher heat of combustion of natural gas.
