Annotation:

The factors ensuring the joint finding of salt bodies and accumulations of hydrocarbons as a result of their synchronous or sequential formation at different historical stages of the development of the southern and southwestern parts of the Gulf of Mexico are considered. The main attention in the article is paid to one of the main ones – the geodynamic feature that ensures the paragenesis of salt bodies and hydrocarbon accumulations due to the manifestation of sediment deformation, the formation of an extensive system of discontinuous faults and fracturing of rocks that ensure the breakthrough and surfacing of salt and hydrocarbon fluids in the above-located horizons of different ages. The paragenesis of hydrocarbons, brines, and salts takes place in the zone of their formation, on migration routes, and in the accumulation zone. In the accumulation zone (Salinas zone), the presence of individual traps is confirmed by the presence of a direct hydrocarbons indicator (DHI) – an abnormal value of the seismic attribute, which can be explained by the presence of HC in an oil or gas reservoir. The attractive sides and environmental risks of the development of objects of joint location of hydrocarbon accumulations and salt formations of various types are shown.
