Annotation:

Assessment of oil and gas facilities impact on the natural environment, including the geological medium, is a difficult multiple-parameter task. In the northern regions, the task is becoming more difficult due to frangibility and low self-regenerating capacity of the environment as well as presence of permafrost thicknesses and cryogenic processes. The article presents a methodology for assessing the geological environment stability to the potential impact of oil and gas facilities with account for the most meaningful factors such as lithological composition, relief characteristics and surface waters distribution and permafrost. The methodology has been tested on the Ardalin group of oil fields located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District since 1995. The results of the geo-ecological zoning, based on the integral assessment of the above-mentioned natural factors influence on the geological medium stability to possible oil pollution showed that the southern part of the licensed area is the most unfavorable one, thus requiring increased monitoring of the geological environment state.
