Annotation:

The causes of oil products spill during storage in the tank farm with further environmental pollution are analyzed. The main reasons include the technical characteristics of the waterproofing material as the underlying surface for oil storage facilities. Within the framework of the study, the use of concrete and soil as the underlying surface for a group of tanks is assessed, taking into account the effect of a secondary shock wave. According to the results of the study, the necessity of improving the environmental safety of petroleum products storage is justified. The efficiency of using the "Kanvalan" geosynthetic material as the underlying surface of the tank farm is proposed and confirmed by the technical parameters. The main advantage of using this material is high technical characteristics: high strength, resistance to aggressive environments, good heat and frost resistance. This material is produced in Russia thus excluding the probability of reducing or interrupting its delivery under sanctions conditions.
