Concept of carbon neutrality and practice of its implementation at the facilities of the oil and gas industry

Annotation:

The embargo on the supply of petroleum products from Russia to the European Union, which came into force in February 2023, and the ceiling on Russian oil prices do not mean for Russian oil and gas companies (OGC) to abandon the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, investments in new technologies and energy sources. The authors of the article analyze current practices of Russian oil and gas companies aimed at reducing GHG emissions. In the context of new political and economic realities, the state initiatives of the Russian Federation within the framework of the implementation of the "green agenda", including state support for environmentally oriented enterprises, are considered. The article presents the main directions of decarbonization and their practical implementation in the RF oil and gas companies, taking into account the classification of GHG emissions by scope and specifics of companies' activities. The research data presented in the article demonstrate a comprehensive approach to achieving carbon neutrality.
