Annotation:
The authors of the article consider the extremely vulnerable reservoir of the Bohaiwan Bay, which is subjected to the risk of oil spills due to oil production activities and the appearance of natural gas on the seabed surface coming from big depths. The structure and conditions of hydrocarbon deposits formation in the Bohaiwan megabasin are clarified and considered by the authors from the point of view of the influence of underground gas storage (UGS) on the geoecological situation of the region and minimization of the risks of the existing ecosystem disruption of the bay area. The specifics of building underground gas storages (UGS) in marine conditions require special environmental caution, violation of which can inspire the water regime change (pollution), damage to flora and fauna, deformation of the Earth's surface (sinking, displacement), etc. The necessity of developing a strategy for environmental protection from sources of coastal and inland waters pollution as well as a full-fledged set of measures to combat pollution and promote environmental protection in the bay area is shown.
