Annotation:
The authors of the article discuss the use of various technological solutions to reduce methane emissions and losses of light oil fractions from vertical steel tanks (VST). A summary table of the list of means and technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and hydrocarbon losses in VST has been formed, indicating the advantages and limitations of their use. The presented solutions include installations for capturing light fractions of oil and petroleum products, a floating roof, a gas equalization system, pontoons of various types, painting the outer surface of the tank, and reflective discs. For one of the facilities of an oil and gas producing enterprise of PJSC "NK "Rosneft", the results of in-kind measurements of the content of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights before and after vertical steel tanks are presented to assess the feasibility of constructing a light fraction recovery unit. The results of the study allow making a conclusion about possible refuse of using a vapor recovery unit at the facility, the necessity of a thorough analysis and selection of technological solutions to achieve reduction of methane emissions intensity.
