Annotation:
The authors of the article consider the problems of pipelines corrosion in the operational conditions of the Orenburg oil and gas condensate field, discovered in 1966. Special attention is given to the aggressive chemical components (hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide) contained in the gas, which create a corrosive effect on equipment and pipelines. The methods of protection against corrosion processes and support for gas pipeline system functioning are discussed as well. The necessity and effectiveness of various corrosion inhibition methods are substantiated and evaluated. One- and two-piston techniques as well as aerosol and hydrodynamic methods used to protect the linear part were considered. The necessity of applying an integrated approach to start-up units protection, including the introduction of an aerosol method for supplying an inhibitor, which avoids spreading of an aggressive environment is supported. In parallel, quality control technique of inhibitory protection was developed, which resulted in operational reliability increase and replacement components cost reduction.
