Annotation:
One of the key environmental problems of the oil industry is the elimination of objects of accumulated environmental damage. Among such objects there are sour tar accumulation ponds. It should be noted that in Russia the problem of liquidation of such objects has not been solved yet. The authors of the article study the most developed directions for solving the problem. The sources of waste formation are revealed as well as the causes of its multi-tonnage disposal. The technologies applied for processing sour tar of current production are considered and classified. The approaches to liquidation of sour tar ponds are studied. The methods of stabilization/curing and encapsulation with obtaining inert material are singled out as the main solutions for neutralization of acid tar accumulation ponds. The most preferable direction of such waste utilization is neutralization with obtaining substitute fuel for thermal power plants (CPP).
