Provision of employees by personal protective equipment based on the analysis of violations in the field of occupational health and safety

Annotation:
The authors of the article analyzed occupational safety violations that took place within three years in a large oil and gas company, revealed by the results of comprehensive occupational safety inspections. Four types of occupational safety violations were fixed: violation during operational activities, during occupational safety briefings, in the system of occupational safety management and violations related to personal protective equipment (PPE). It is shown that the most number of violations are caused by protective rules non-observance by personnel, failure to provide employees with PPE in full, failure to fill in documents related to PPE, use of expired PPE by employees. A special questionnaire was developed and 1573 employees of a subsidiary branch of an oil and gas company were surveyed to assess satisfaction by the quality of personal protective equipment. The research resulted in suggesting measures aimed at the deficiencies elimination that were revealed by questionnaire the results of employees’ provision by PPE.
