Geological-resource prerequisites of prospecting and exploration in the Irkutsk Amphitheater

Annotation:

Based on the materials of hydrocarbons geological-resource analysis, the phase zonation of the predominant accumulation of oil, natural gas and condensate in the southern part of the East Siberian oil and gas mega-province has been revealed and three regions (gas, oil and transitional oil and gas condensate) have been identified in the scheme of oil and gas geological zoning, which allows making decisions on targeted prospecting and exploration of oil, oil and gas condensate, gas and gas condensate fields. The analysis shows that, in terms of the amount of gas, the territory in question is predominantly a gas-bearing region (72 % of the total hydrocarbon reserves). Hence the prerequisites for the creation of large gas production centers in the Eastern Siberia, primarily in the Nepsko-Botuobinskaya anteclise and within the Angara-Lena stage. The outlined centers can serve as a strategic basis for providing the raw material base for the gas and gas-chemical industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
