Carbon footprint when cutting wood in case of laying linear oil and gas facilities

Annotation:

The construction and operation of linear facilities of the oil and gas complex and other linear facilities passing through forests leads to negative impacts on the environment. Wood felling is accompanied by cutting off the wooden surface at the root, forming logging elements and their specific transformation in different climatic zones, which leads to hydrocarbon imbalance in the lighting of routes through forest landscapes. The stock of wood contained in wood biomass potentially participating in the hydrocarbon cycle for the North-Western region is calculated. It has been revealed that the construction and operation of the exclusion zones for laying pipelines and auxiliary structures lead to the carbon footprint increase. The amount of hydrocarbon due to the loss of various wood has been determined when laying 1 linear km of routes on the territory of a forest in the North-Western region. The negative impact is also caused by the cutting of young trees of 1 and 2 classes with hydrocarbon losses in quantities of respectively 205.75 and 179.69 t/km.
