Development of a model of industrial safety culture assessment for the fuel and energy complex companies

Annotation:

The authors of the article have developed a model that allows for a comprehensive diagnosing the level of an industrial safety culture (ISC) development in the energy companies of the oil and gas complex. A system of indicators that allows for assessing the ISC level based on the company data for monitoring the operation of a company’s industrial safety culture (ISC). To substantiate the safety indicators, entering the model of ISC assessment level, the methods of non-parametric statistics have been applied. To reveal the interrelation between the calculation coefficients and average assessment of industrial safety culture (ISC) level the determination of indicators of Spearman’s rank correlation was used. The influence of 5 out of 17 proposed safety indicators on the average assessment of ISC level which should be taken into account when assessing ISC in an organization together with the results of employees’ questionnaire has been revealed. The data obtained have been used for formation of the detailed plan of measures for increasing the level of production safety culture. Such approach allowed not only identifying the existing drawbacks in the system of industrial safety management but also identify key areas of development that will meet the specifics of a particular company.
