Annotation:

The authors of the article studied the toxicity of a newly developed "chemical herder" (CH), intended to reduce the surface area and increase the thickness of thin oil spills. A variety of test organisms were used in biotesting, including Daphnia magna Straus, Paramecium caudatum, Chlorella vulgaris Beijer, and Chaetoceros sp. The concentrations used ranged from 0,8 mg/l to 600 mg/l. It was found that the CH did not have a significant toxic effect at the operational concentration. However, for some species, such as Daphnia magna Straus and Chlorella vulgaris Beijer, there was some degree of toxicity observed at higher concentrations (200 mg/l and 600 mg/l, respectively).
