Annotation:
One of the key environmental problems of the oil and gas complex is the necessity of to neutralizing/utilization of oil sludge. The development of any effective technology requires objective information on the waste's component composition. Consequently, the authors of the article discuss the efficiency of oil sludge components separation in laboratory studies. The relevance of this problem is the fact that oil sludge origin varies significantly, thus necessitating an individualized research approach, which is inefficient for data interpretation. The goal of this study is to identify research methodologies that will help overcoming these challenges. It resulted in developing scientifically grounded recommendations for determining the phase composition of oil sludge using acid tar as an example.
