Development of a VR simulator for controlling an unmanned aircraft at oil and gas facilities

Annotation:

The authors of the article consider the problems of relevance of applying virtual reality technology when training personnel responsible for the safety aspects of industrial activities and working with unmanned aircrafts (UAC). Examples of UAC use in Russian and foreign companies (PH-Krasnodarneftegaz, SkyX, Equinor), which confirm the relevance of the technology in professional practice are given. The sequence of the educational project implementation using the developed UAC-simulator is described is described and the main implementation instruments of using the 3D Unigine engine, interaction logic programming, optimization for HTC Vive Pro 2 helmet, development of objects models of and scenarios are considered. Special attention is paid to the integration of a reporting system that allows students to track their progress and adjust their actions, thus contributing to personalization of training and increasing its effectiveness. The generalized testing results are presented, demonstrating significant success in the process of using the simulator: the development of trained skills in the absence of situations related to the failure of real aircrafts.
