Various formats of using educational digital products: a case study of National University of Oil and Gas "Gubkin University"

Annotation:

The authors of the article consider the use of digital products as a learning tool of higher education, using "Gubkin University" as an example. Three original formats for developing and utilizing educational digital products are discussed. The first format involves the development of simplified educational applications by students of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering as part of their coursework or diploma projects. Within this format, senior students can develop interactive demonstration materials for junior students, which is particularly relevant for specialized industry-focused universities. The second format involves the development of virtual laboratory works based on professional software products designed for automating industrial processes, such as PI System. A significant advantage of this format lies in the fact that the developer of the laboratory work does not require specialized programming skills. However, the educational process becomes tied to the software provider. The third format involves development of digital simulators for laboratory works. The digital simulator is developed as an application for desktop and mobile devices, following the recommendations and requirements of a specific university tutor. It includes built-in instructions and a function to verify students’ actions. This format is the most oriented toward distance learning compared to the others.
