Annotation:

The process of constructing an offshore gas pipeline (OGP) requires significant time and financial costs, thus determining the relevance of pre-design studies of a set of factors influencing the choice of the optimal OGP route. The development of methodology and building of data processing models using modern geographic information systems requires a priori identification of the theoretical foundations for choosing the OGP route. The paper presents some data on geological conditions and hazards on the routes of trans-boundary OGP of Russia; a system for collecting and analyzing a set of geological data when choosing an OGP route is presented, including the specialization and directions of interactions of the geological team members; the main geological hazards and geotechnical options for minimizing their consequences are systematized; the approaches to the assessment and optimization of the OGP route according to the criterion of the least cost of the route are generalized; the procedure and principles for choosing the OGP optimal route are proposed. The results obtained are the basis for the further development of the methodology for optimizing the choice of an OGP route and its implementation.
