Annotation:

Since the middle of the 20-th century, many experts have been studying the geological structure of the Kama-Kinel trough system and assessing the prospects for its oil and gas potential. As a result of the long-term and purposeful study of this complex geological object, a number of exploration areas have been identified. Until now, one of these areas has not lost its relevance – prospecting for hydrocarbon deposits in the depression zone of the Mukhanovo-Erokhov trough, in its marginal structural zone with carbonate clinoform complexes. Non-anticlinal clinoform traps are complex prospecting objects and can be identified only with the help of a comprehensive, detailed and consistent analysis of seismic and geological-geophysical information. Modern seismic technologies and geological research methods can significantly expand the capabilities of this search area. As shown by an in-depth analysis of the structure and development of the Mukhanovo-Erokhov trough, the most promising clinoforms were formed in the Tournaisian time, when the progradation of the carbonate platform framing the trough from the south was most intense.

It is the Tournaisian stage of the filling of the intrashelf basin that is characterized by episodes of clay material entering the trough and the formation of seal packs separating carbonate clinoforms of different ages. The general geological prerequisites, as well as the paragenesis of condensed domanikoid deposits of a depression basin with high oil source potential and non-anticlinal traps of carbonate clinoforms create favorable conditions for considering the inner marginal zone of the Mukhanovo-Erokhov trough as a promising one for the search for oil accumulations in an industrial volume.
