Filling the Power of Siberia main pipeline by natural gas will require the mobilization of the resource potential of the Irkutsk amphitheater, the maintenance of which will initiate the discovery of new gas and gas condensate fields and the transfer of reserves to higher categories – the main reserve of their replenishment and gas production development. According to the resource-geological analysis, the Irkutsk amphitheater is mainly a gas–bearing region in terms of gas quantity (7,6 billion tons of conventional fuel or 72 % of total hydrocarbon reserves). Resource-geological analysis of the mineral resource base of the oil and gas industry of the Irkutsk amphitheater by subjects and tectonic elements, by the size of reserves and the degree of deposits development allowed identifying a gas region in the scheme of oil and gas geological zoning (reserves of deposits with a mixture of hydrocarbons gas component from 65 to 100 %). The geological and resource analysis of the Irkutsk amphitheater gas content, presented by the authors of the article, can serve as a strategic basis for providing gas to the Asia–Pacific region.
