Annotation:

The authors of the article propose an approach to open hole well logging data interpretation aimed at definite characterizing the degree of changing bottomhole zone permeability differentiated by depth and predicting the skin factor formation. Skin factor is looked upon as a function of four parameters including the radius of impacted zone and its equivalent permeability, which could be derived from complexing well logging data and core analysis. The approach utilizes radial modelling of petrophysical properties (resistivity, saturation, permeability) using differences in the depth of investigation of various logging methods to determine the size and effective permeability of zone that experienced technogenic impact during initial formation penetration. The conditions of the method application and recommendations for its petrophysical support are outlined. The proposed interpretation algorithm can be used for prompt assessment of the formation skin factor during primary drilling-in based on real-time logging-while-drilling or cable logging data. The characteristic of the permeability change in the bottomhole formation zone obtained at the early stages of the well’s life can find various areas of application, including correction of drilling parameters; design of formation tests, geological and technical measures and secondary drilling-in.
