MODELING OF THE TRANSITING OF RIGID FRAGMENTS OF TRANSPORT STRINGS THROUGH WELL SECTIONS WITH A LARGE CURVATURE

Annotation:

The article presents the results of numerical simulation of the transiting of fragments of transport strings with high bending stiffness through sections of the well with a large curvature. For the sake of simplification, a hypothetical well was considered, with profile consists of two straight sections connected by a 90-degree arc. The calculations were performed using the WellForces_1 computer program developed at NTC ZERS LLC. According to the results of calculations, it is shown that in cases where the transport string has sections with a sharp change in bending stiffness, the contact forces of its interaction with the well will be greater compared to a similar transport string, but with a smooth change in the bending stiffness of the pipes along its length. It also follows from the calculation results that the rate of change in the curvature of the wellbore is also an important parameter, along with the maximum intensity of curvature and the total angle of curvature of the wellbore from the bottom to the surface. Therefore, during the designing of wells, it is desirable to minimize the rate of change in the curvature of the wellbore by using special procedures, similar to those implemented in the WellForces_1 program. The results obtained were explained using simple pictures illustrating the effect of forces on a pipe located in a curved wellbore.
