Annotation:

The article presents the data analysis of various North American shale oil fields, followed by a number of correlations, generalization of statistical data, and their comparison with the available data from the Domanik deposits projects in the Samara region.

According to the information provided by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the world’s recoverable shale oil reserves number more than 57 billion tons. The leading positions in this rating are held by the USA (10,6 billion tons), Russia (10,1 billion tons), China (4,4 billion tons).

It is noted that according to a number of the specified parameters, the US shale oil fields of the Eagle Ford basin are most similar to the Domanik deposits of the Samara region, which allows us to accept these objects as analogues. The available information on the USA shale oil wells reflects a clear long-term trend of positive changes in a number of technological indicators, such as average length of a horizontal well site, drilling time per well, average number of fracturing stages per well, etc.

The Domanik deposits similar indicators of the Samara region deposits demonstrate the initial stage of these projects development, but a number of their operational parameters already prove good results. For example, there presented relatively average indicators of the first-year cumulative oil production per well with relatively few hydraulic fracturing stages. As a result, it seems possible to conclude that the technological prospects of the Domanik deposits in the Samara region are very promising.

Taking into account the potential of the technology of well drilling, completion and production, it can be stated that there is a similar potential for future improvements of the technological and financial performance indicators of the Domanik deposits development projects.
