Annotation:
The author of the paper attempts to summarize some aspects of conducting a comprehensive legal evaluation of oil and gas projects inherent in different jurisdictions; typical risks identified during such audits. Some options to mitigate the identified risks are pointed out. The general sequence of steps taken to enter the oil and gas asset is outlined. Examples, based on the author's practical experience that may be of interest to lawyers, risk managers involved in the assessment of oil and gas projects, and generally for negotiation teams are given.
