The paper analyzes the experience of the formation of gas motor fuel (GMF) markets of the countries, both leading in this direction and occupying relatively modest positions. The success of China and Italy, which were the first ones to start the implementation of the program of developing gas filling infrastructure with the aim of refusal from more expensive oil products is caused by a special role of the state, which either directly invest money in the industry or introduce powerful preferences for the development of gas filling infrastructure and support of car owners. Germany demonstrates a slower development of the gas motor fuel market, where taxes on the use of hydrocarbon fuels remain rather high and the fleet of electric vehicles is growing at an outstripping pace and measures to support car owners have turned out to be less effective. As a result, the fleet of electric vehicles is growing especially intensively here. The paper also discusses the possibilities of using various aspects of international experience for the development of the GMF market in Russia.
